Join members of AACRAO's Board of Directors to learn of the proposals under consideration for strengthening the governance of the association. As President von Munkwitz-Smith announced to the membership in August (http://governance.aacrao.org) the Board reviewed feedback from members in response to last year's governance proposals. They have disaggregated the changes presented in the proposal last year and are considering moving forward with a subset of those changes to make the language in the bylaws consistent and correct, 2) changes required by changes in District of Columbia law, and 3) changes that received general support and that increase board effectiveness, member participation, and communication within our governance structures
The proposals were shared at the December leadership meeting with AACRAO professional activities committee chairs and a lively and instructive conversation ensued. That group agreed with the Board's plan to engage the membership in as many ways as possible to continue the conversation. Members of the Board's Governance Committee (Chair Adrienne McDay, Melanie Gottlieb, Nancy Krogh, and Nora McLaughlin) will present a summary and discussion of the current proposals in a webinar scheduled for Wednesday, January 23 at 2 p.m. EST.
