Establishing and Operating an International Branch Campus - A Comprehensive Overview

This session will focus on the logistics of setting up and operating an international branch campus. Based on experiences at Monroe College and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; presenters will cover trends/benefits of opening a branch campus as well as lessons learned. Emphasis will be on how to handle admissions, setting up a remote registrar's office, accreditation and foreign policy concerns, and technological issues. Communicating across time zones and cultures will also be covered. The webinar will provide an opportunity for questions and sharing experiences from other institutions.

This webinar is geared towards campus officials, registrars, admissions officers, attorneys, counselors, student services and records administrators as well as information technology professionals interested in setting up and operating an international branch campus.


Luke D. Schultheis, Interim Associate Vice President, University of Nevada Las Vegas(UNLV)

Luke D. Schultheis serves as Interim Associate Vice President for Enrollment and Student Services at UNLV and has been with the institution for three years. The units in the group include Admissions, Financial Aid & Scholarship, Registrar, International Students & Scholars, Enrollment Marketing, Enrollment Technology and Career Services. Prior to UNLV he served three institutions in New York City and during that time helped establish an international satellite campus. UNLV also has an international campus - in Singapore. Luke has spent extensive time in the Caribbean working on various higher educational projects over the last 15 years.

Katie Humphreys, Interim Registrar, University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV)

Katie has worked in university administration since 1997 and is currently serving as the Interim Registrar at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In addition to her experience in the Registrar's Office, she has worked with Admissions and a Student Information System implementation. She is in the dissertation phase of a doctoral degree in Education Leadership with a focus on organizational change. Katie began her career at UNLV shortly after a branch campus was opened in Singapore. For close to 6 years, she has worked with the logistics of operating a campus remotely and growing from 40 students to over 600. She is excited to share this experience of expanding the student base at UNLV.

Carrie Trentham, Interim Director of Admissions, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV)

Carrie Trentham currently serves at the Interim Director of Admissions at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Carrie has served in a variety of roles in the Office of Admissions since 2006 including Assistant Director of Undergraduate Recruitment, Assistant Director of Events and Programs, and most recently Assistant Director of Admissions Operations. Carrie is responsible for the oversight of all functions related to undergraduate domestic and international admissions as well as the Enrollment Services Center. Carrie has worked closely with the admissions staff from UNLV's Singapore campus to develop processes and procedures that are consistent with the main campus. Carrie has been active in AACRAO since 2007 and currently serves as the chair of the Admissions Policies and Practices Committee.
