AACRAO Webinar

House Reauthorization Webinar

On Thursday February 7th, the House of Representatives passed its bill to reauthorize the Higher Education Act of 1965 by a vote of 354-58. There were a number of important last-minute changes to the version of the House bill passed by the Education and Labor Committee last year, some of which were announced only the evening before they came up for a vote.

The massive legislation approved by the House now moves to a House-Senate Conference Committee, which will be charged with ironing out the differences between it and the mammoth reauthorization bill passed by the Senate last year.

On Thursday, February 14th, AACRAO will hold a video webinar on the House reauthorization bill. The webinar will provide an overview of the House bill and discuss the political forces that shaped the bill as it finally emerged from the House. Barmak Nassirian, Associate Executive Director of AACRAO, will be joined by Doug Lederman, co-editor and co-founder of Inside Higher Ed, and Sarah A. Flanagan, Vice President for Government Relations and Policy, National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, for a conversation on the House legislation and its prospects of enactment into law.
